Use the readability scorer to compare the reading complexity of text as you revise it. It calculates several formula scores and an estimated reading time. These are text measures, not evidence that a particular audience will read, understand, or act on the message.

Metrics returned

The formulas use approximate English word, syllable, and sentence detection. Most metrics sample up to the first 1,000 words; readingTime uses the full text. Results from short fragments, unusual punctuation, or other languages need particular care.

Check and revise text

1

Enter your text

Paste the paragraph or message you want to assess.
2

Compare the metrics

Look at Reading Ease alongside the grade estimates. A difference between formulas is normal because they measure different features.
3

Revise and check again

Shorten sentences or replace complex wording where that improves clarity for your readers, then compare the new result.
The Spotzee Extended API accepts text of up to 10,000 characters for this check. API calls use your credit balance; see pricing for the current rate.
