Free Email Subject Line Suggester

Generate 3–10 alternative subject lines from your draft in seconds.

01 · Definition

What is email subject line suggester?

An email subject line generator — sometimes called an AI email subject line generator or subject line suggester — takes a draft subject line and returns several alternative versions optimised for open rates, readability and spam avoidance. You provide the starting point; the generator produces variations you can choose from, adapt or feed into an A/B test.

This tool generates between 3 and 10 alternative subject lines from any draft. Paste the subject you have, pick how many suggestions you want, and the tool returns alternatives ready to use or score. Read the in-depth email subject line suggester guide for how to use generated suggestions in an A/B testing workflow.

02 · Process

How it works

  1. 1Enter your draft subject line.Type or paste the subject line you have — even a rough draft works. The generator uses it as the creative brief for all alternatives.
  2. 2Choose how many suggestions to generate.Select 3 for a focused shortlist, 5 for a standard A/B pool, or 10 for the broadest set to review before choosing.
  3. 3Generate and review. The AI generates alternatives that aim to preserve the intent of your draft while varying the phrasing, tone and structure.
  4. 4Score and select.Paste any suggestion into the subject line scorer to check it for spam words, length and readability before committing to it.

03 · Risk

Why it matters

Writing a single subject line is easy. Writing three or four strong variants for an A/B test — each distinct enough to generate useful data — is harder. A subject line generator removes the blank-page problem: it gives you a pool of alternatives in seconds so you spend your time selecting and refining rather than drafting from nothing.

Generated suggestions also surface phrasings you might not reach on your own. The AI varies tone, personalisation, urgency framing and emoji use across the suggestions, which means the pool often includes at least one option that reads differently enough to test meaningfully against your original.

04 · Use cases

Common ways to use this tool

  • A/B test preparation. Generate 5–10 alternatives from your planned subject line, score each one, and pick the two strongest as your A and B variants.
  • Unblocking a weak draft. When a subject line feels off but you cannot identify why, run it through the generator to see how the same message reads with different structures and tones.
  • Spam-trigger-free alternatives. If your subject line scored poorly in the scorer, generate alternatives and score them until you find one that clears all the major spam signals.
  • Campaign template library. Generate 10 subject lines for a recurring campaign type — monthly statement, weekly newsletter, re-engagement — and build a library of tested options to rotate through.

05 · Interpretation

What to check in the result

  • Score each suggestion before using it. Generated subject lines are not guaranteed to be spam-free. Paste each one you are considering into the subject line scorer to confirm it passes the main spam, length and readability checks.
  • Check personalisation tokens match your platform. Generated suggestions may include [FNAME] tokens. Confirm your email service provider uses the same merge tag format before sending, or replace [FNAME] with your platform's equivalent (e.g. {{first_name}}).
  • Verify emoji rendering across clients. Some generated suggestions include emojis. Check that the emoji renders correctly in your primary send clients — some clients strip or misrender certain Unicode emoji ranges.
  • Keep the suggestions on-brand. AI suggestions match the intent of your draft but may not match your brand voice. Review each one for tone before adding it to a campaign.
